1.2.5
« on: April 04, 2012, 06:01:09 pm »

Mojang have just released an update to Minecraft, bringing us to 1.2.5.

This update is primarily a bug fix release but does include some nice improvements as well:
Added:
Added shift clicking support in furnaces.
Added method to easily acquire blocks you have selected in the world in Creative mode using the 'pick block' key.
Made the Direct Connect dialog remember the last IP for the current session.

Fixed:
Fixed issues detecting certain links in chat.
Fixed wild ocelots behaving like tamed cats.
Fixed various chat crashes.
Made cats less eager to sit on things.
Made cats less patient.
Fixed world generation failing under certain circumstances.
Fixed issues turning off sound under certain circumstances.
Removed all ghost entities under the command of Lord Herobrine.
Fixed crash when pasting certain characters in chat.
Fixed / key not behaving correctly in certain environments.
Fixed command matching being too greedy (for example: typing /stophammertime no longer stops your server)
Fixed potential issue with village door detection.
Made the Done! report time elapsed in seconds instead of nanseconds.
Made using a stack of bowls on Mooshrooms not consume the whole stack of bowls.
Made punching a TNT block with flint and steel in hand destroy and drop a TNT block.
Made using flint and steel on a TNT block ignite it.

Sweet, thanks very much. Is this to become a regular thing so we can discuss updates?

Hmmm. I kind of prefer if Mojang did a large update every few months than tiny ones that don't affect the game drastically very frequently. Just my opinion. (I'm also complaining just because I hate having to find the most recent version of MCPatcher...)

But if their was a game breaking bug and you had to wait a few months for it that would be bad.

Like Red says, I think there are a few reasons it's better for Mojang if they do regular updates. Firstly, it cuts down on the amount of illehgal copies of Minecraft that can be distrubted before they are out of date: that was Notch's original method of cutting down on piracy. Second, lots of little updates let them fix bugs with minumum risk of accidently releasing an unstable version. Remember when the massive 1.8 came out and how many issues that had. Lots of small updates allow them to keep track of everything. I think this is why they do this.

But yeah, having to continually reinstall mods is goddam annoying.

Look, thanks to this thread I'm sounding all knowledgeable already :3

Just get magic launcher or my craft. They are both good mod managers
But yeah, having to continually reinstall mods is goddam annoying.

With these you don't have to edit the jar just put to mods in the specific folder and BAM you have to necessary mods that you need. I guess you still have to download the mods but its better than nothing
